ADVERT FOR THE POSITION OF PROJECT MANAGER

The Gambian Agency for Management of Public Works (GAMWORKS) invites applications from suitably qualified Gambians to fill the vacant position of Project Manager at the Agency.

The Project Manager shall be responsible for the day-to-day management of portfolio of assigned projects; in particular, the Project Manager shall be responsible for the various projects and the field verification of design studies, making unscheduled site visits and prompt reporting of such visits on a regular basis. The Project Manager shall provide the necessary information to validate the certified claims from consultants regarding payments of works executed. He / She shall ensure that progress reports for projects are prepared and submitted on time and promptly alert the Agency on any delays in the execution of works and ensure that there is adequate supervision of the works by the consultants. Finally, the Project Manager shall ensure that regular site meetings between the consultant, contractor and the Agency take place and minutes of such meetings prepared and circulated.

The Project Manager shall be under the supervision of the Technical Director and shall assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the Technical Department and related functions, by providing the relevant technical expertise required including studies, to meet the Agency’s goals and commitments. The Technical Director will, from time to time, evaluate the performance of the Project Manager and submit to Gamworks’ Management.

Qualifications and Experience

The qualifications, experience and competencies required for the post are:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a reputable University; A Master’s degrees would be an added advantage;
  2.  Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in civil engineering design and/or construction contracts management;
  3. Strong Project Management skills are essential, including proficiency in project planning, scheduling, budgeting and risk management;
  4. Experience in procurement of donor funded projects;
  5. Possess very good understanding of Project Management Information Systems;
